Luggage Racks for Hotels

The luggage rack is the piece of furniture almost nobody puts at the top of the list when furnishing a hotel room. And yet it’s one of the first things a guest looks for when they walk in with their trolley case: if they can’t find one, they rest the suitcase on the bed, the floor or the armchair, and housekeeping ends up moving open suitcases every day during turndown. A well-positioned luggage rack, the right size, solves a concrete operational problem and makes the room look tidier even while the guest is using it. We create bespoke luggage racks for hotels in the dimensions and finishes you need, integrated into the desk as a coordinated element, paired with the minibar cabinet, or as fixed wall-mounted pieces. No catalogue models, a single point of contact. Delivery and installation are included worldwide.

Why a luggage rack matters in a hotel room

Anyone who’s managed a hotel for a few years knows what happens in rooms without a luggage rack: suitcases end up on the bed. The guest opens their trolley case on the bedspread, rummages through their clothes, leaves everything open while they shower, and housekeeping arrives to find an open suitcase on the bed that has to be moved before they can even change the sheets. Multiplied across the number of rooms and daily turndowns, the time lost adds up.

The luggage rack solves this problem quietly: the guest has a dedicated spot for their open suitcase, the bed stays free, and staff work faster. It isn’t a luxury item: it’s a functional piece that improves the property’s operations and the room’s perceived tidiness.

The second problem with not having a luggage rack is aesthetic. An open suitcase on the floor or on the armchair makes any room look untidy, no matter how carefully the rest of the furniture has been chosen. A luggage rack in the right spot visually contains the guest’s luggage and keeps the room looking tidy even during the stay. For properties that take care over their room photos on Booking, this detail shows.

Where to position the luggage rack in a hotel room

The position of the luggage rack depends on how the room is used and the space available. The basic rule is that the luggage rack has to be reachable from the door without crossing the whole room: the guest walks in with their trolley case and wants to find somewhere to put it down straight away, without dragging their luggage all the way to the opposite corner.

In rooms with a desk near the entrance, integration into the desk is the ideal solution: the luggage rack sits on the natural path between the door and the bed, takes up zero extra space and disappears when not in use. In rooms where the desk is far from the entrance, a fixed wall-mounted luggage rack near the door solves the problem without taking up floor space.

In twin rooms where two guests have separate luggage, a single luggage rack isn’t enough. The two-tier double model solves the problem in the same footprint as the single model. Alternatively, a luggage rack integrated into the desk plus a second folding wall-mounted rack cover both pieces of luggage without adding any fixed bulk to the room. The exact position is defined during the free site survey, based on the actual floor plan and the placement of the other furniture.

Materials for hotel luggage racks

A luggage rack in a hotel room with high turnover might hold a different suitcase every day for ten years. That is a heavy, continuous load, and it translates into specific construction requirements.

The critical point is the straps and fixing points. Nylon or synthetic-fabric straps on budget frames loosen after a few months of intensive use and stop holding the suitcase securely. The full-grain leather straps we use hold their tension over time and withstand the weight of 20-25 kg trolley cases without giving way. The strap anchor points on the frame are reinforced with through-screws instead of press-fit clips, which come loose under repeated stress.

The luggage rack’s surface has to bear the weight of a full suitcase distributed over a small area. A wooden-slat surface with slats under 15 mm thick flexes visibly under the weight of a 25 kg trolley case. The slats we use are a minimum of 18 mm thick with a central cross-brace that prevents flexing even under uneven loads. The load-bearing structure, in metal or solid wood depending on the model, is sized not to deform over time even with intensive daily use.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Does the luggage rack integrated into the desk bear the weight of a large trolley case?

Yes. The pull-out shelf integrated into the desk is designed to hold trolley cases up to 30 kg. The extraction runner is in metal with an opening damper, sized for intensive daily use.

Can the folding wall-mounted luggage rack be installed on any type of wall?

Standard fixing is compatible with solid masonry and reinforced plasterboard walls. For walls in stone, tuff or other particular materials, we assess the most suitable anchoring solution during the free site survey.

Do you make luggage racks in the same finishes as the room’s furniture?

Yes. All models are available in the 15 standard finishes we use for room furniture. For properties with furniture from other suppliers, we collect a sample of the finish during the site survey and make it in the closest available match.

Is it possible to add a luggage rack to an already installed desk?

It depends on the structure of the existing desk. In some cases, it’s possible to integrate a pull-out shelf into a desk that’s already in place: we assess feasibility during the site survey. Alternatively, we make a wall-mounted luggage rack coordinated with the finish of the existing desk.

How long does it take to produce and deliver a luggage rack?

Production takes around 3-4 weeks from order confirmation, slightly less than for a complete room furniture package. Delivery and installation are included worldwide.

Do you make double luggage racks for rooms with two guests?

Yes. The two-tier double model is designed exactly for this need. It’s available as a standalone piece or integrated into a larger unit together with the minibar cabinet or the desk.
