The double bed is the centre of gravity of a hotel room. It’s what the guest sees first on entering, what they spend a third of their stay on, and what largely determines the quality of the night’s sleep and therefore the quality of the review. A creaking bed frame, a headboard coming away from the wall, a base that sags in the middle after six months of use: these are the problems that end up written into negative reviews, in a level of detail that always surprises managers. We make bespoke double beds for hotels, to measure in size and finish, with reinforced frames for intensive hotel use, upholstered headboards coordinated with the rest of the room’s furniture, and bases available in any dimension. From the free site visit to installation worldwide, a single point of contact between production and the bedroom.

Discover Every Type of Double Bed for Hotels and Guesthouses

Standard Frame

The base configuration for 3-star hotels and mid-range properties: solid wood bed frame with reinforced slats, faux leather upholstered headboard 90 cm high, base with or without storage. Available in the standard 160×200 cm size and made to measure for rooms with non-standard spaces. Finish can be coordinated with the wardrobe, bedside tables and desk in 15 available colours.

Storage Frame

A double bed with a storage base: piston opening that lifts the mattress, with a 200-litre internal compartment for extra linen or large items. Solves the storage problem in rooms without a cupboard. Reinforced frame to bear the weight of a full storage compartment plus the weight of the guests. Opening mechanism tested for intensive daily use.

Tall Design Headboard

For 4-star hotels and superior properties that want the headboard to be the room’s dominant visual element: upholstered headboard from 120 to 160 cm high, exposed stitching on request, faux leather or fabric in various textures. A tall headboard completely changes the perception of the room even in a medium-sized space: it makes the ceiling look higher and the room feel more considered. Can be coordinated with all available finishes.

Low Minimal Frame

For design hotels with a minimalist aesthetic: bed frame with a reduced height from the floor of 20-25 cm, a low profile with no headboard or with a slim 40 cm headboard, clean lines with no decorative elements. The bed visually recedes into the room instead of dominating it. Requires a base without storage to keep the correct visual proportions. Available in matt and satin finishes.

For Accessible Rooms

A double bed for accessible rooms: floor height adjustable between 45 and 60 cm to make transfer from a wheelchair easier, a frame with no sharp edges on any side, reinforced slats with free manoeuvring space on both sides of the bed. The headboard is fixed to the bed frame rather than the wall, to allow unobstructed side access. Made to the room’s real measurements, taken during the site visit.

Superior

For suites and high-profile rooms: exposed solid wood frame with a natural oil finish in oak, walnut or ash, upholstered headboard covered in fine fabric or high-quality faux leather, coordinated turned wooden feet. A bed that stands out in the room’s photos, and that guests perceive as part of considered furnishings from the moment they open the door. Available to measure in any dimension.

How to Choose a Double Bed for a Hotel

A double bed in a hotel is used by different guests every night, with different weights, different movements and often less than gentle use: guests sit on the edge with their full body weight, get up abruptly at night, sometimes sit together on the edge of the same side. The frame has to be built to handle this kind of variable mechanical stress.

The critical point is the slat structure. The slats we use for hotel frames are at least 10 mm thick with central reinforcing ribs, designed for dynamic and asymmetric loads. They don’t break under the weight of a guest getting up abruptly from the edge of the bed.

The second critical point is the stability of the overall frame. A creaking bed in a hotel is a serious problem: the noise is heard at night, disturbs the guest’s sleep and ends up in reviews. The joints between the frame’s components are reinforced with metal inserts that prevent play developing between the parts over time. Even after years of intensive use, the frame stays quiet.

Double Bed Sizes for Hotels: Standard and Made-to-Measure Dimensions

The standard size for a double bed in Italy is 160×200 cm. It’s the size found in most Italian hotels and the one guests expect to find in a double or twin room. But many hotel rooms, especially those created in historic or renovated buildings, have spaces that don’t fit this standard size perfectly.

A room with a back wall 210 cm long can’t fit a 200 cm bed without leaving negligible gaps at the sides: the result is a room that looks poorly designed, even though the layout is simply the result of the building’s structural constraints. In these cases, a made-to-measure 190 cm bed with bedside tables made to the exact width of the remaining space solves the problem and makes the room look carefully planned.

We make double beds in any dimension, from the standard size to custom measurements for rooms with specific constraints. The free site visit lets us take exact measurements and propose the configuration that makes the best use of the available space, taking into account the position of the door, windows, radiators and any other element that affects where the bed can go.

The Headboard: Height, Material and Finish Based on Property Type

The headboard is the piece of bedroom furniture with the greatest visual impact in a property’s photos. It’s what appears front and centre in the room’s main photo, and what the guest sees first on entering. A low, unremarkable headboard in a room aiming to be positioned as a quality double lowers the perceived value of the room. A tall, well-made headboard does the opposite.

The height of the headboard depends on the type of property. For mid-range hotels, a height of 90-100 cm is appropriate: it’s visible and recognisable as a piece of furniture without dominating the room. For 4-star hotels and superior properties, a height of 120-140 cm changes the perception of the room significantly: it makes the ceiling look higher, the room more considered, the bed more important. For suites and high-profile rooms, headboards up to 160 cm with exposed stitching and fine materials are the choice that justifies a higher rate.
The headboard material needs to be coordinated with the rest of the furniture. In a room with dark wood furniture, a dark grey or midnight blue faux leather headboard works better than a light beige one. In a room with a neutral palette and light wood, a sand or pearl grey faux leather headboard keeps the visual consistency. During the site visit we bring material and finish samples to help the manager choose the best combination for the specific context of the room.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Do you make double beds in sizes other than the standard 160×200 cm?

Yes. We make double beds in any dimension, from the standard size to custom measurements for rooms with specific structural constraints. Measurements are taken during the free site visit.

Can I order just the bed frame without the base?

Yes. We make the bed frame and base both as a coordinated system and as separate elements. If the existing base is in good condition, we make just the frame and headboard coordinated with the room’s furniture.

Is the storage base suitable for intensive hotel use?

Yes. The lifting pistons we use are tested for intensive daily use and hold their pressure over time without needing maintenance. The storage compartment is accessible even with the mattress in place, by lifting just the front section.

Can you make double beds for rooms with low ceilings or exposed beams?

Yes. In these cases the headboard height is sized so as not to interfere with the beams, and the bed frame is designed to fit the room’s geometric constraints. The site visit is especially important for capturing these details precisely.

How long does it take to produce and deliver a double bed?

Production takes around 4-6 weeks from order confirmation. Delivery and installation are included worldwide and are agreed with the property to minimise operational disruption.

Do you make double beds coordinated with furniture from other manufacturers?

Yes. If you provide a sample of the existing finish, we make the bed frame and headboard in the most compatible finish available from our 15 standard options or based on a dedicated sample.
