Chairs are the piece of furniture bought last, often in bulk, often from whichever supplier is cheapest. The reasoning is understandable: a chair is a chair, what could go wrong? What goes wrong is that a low-quality chair in a breakfast room serving a hundred covers a day lasts one or two years before the joints give way, the legs splay and the seat loses its shape. Multiply that by the number of chairs and how often they need replacing, and the real cost far exceeds that of chairs built for intensive hotel use from the start. We make hotel chairs in solid wood and metal, with the seat and backrest in various configurations, for bedrooms, breakfast rooms, communal areas and outdoor spaces. They can be coordinated with the bedroom furniture and with the pieces in communal areas, in the same finishes. Delivery is included worldwide.

Choosing the Right Chairs for Your Hotel

A chair in the breakfast room of a fifty-room hotel is used by different guests three times a day, moved, dragged across the floor, sometimes knocked over. The mechanical strain built up in a single year of hotel use is considerable.

The joints between the legs and the seat frame are the critical point of any chair. On cheap chairs, joints that are glued without mechanical reinforcement give way under repeated stress: first they loosen, then the chair starts to wobble, then it collapses under a guest’s weight. In a breakfast room with twenty chairs, having three or four unstable at the same time is normal if you buy chairs that were not designed for intensive use.

The joints we use on chairs for hotel use combine gluing with through-bolts or metal dowels: the chair withstands the varying mechanical load of different guests every day, for years, without loosening. The unit cost is higher than for cheap contract chairs, but the cost per seat per year of use is significantly lower, because you are not replacing them every two years.

Breakfast Room Chairs: The Construction Specifications That Make the Difference

The breakfast room is where chairs work hardest in a hotel. Three sittings of guests a day, constant moving about, frequent cleaning with professional products, and sometimes guests who are not gentle with the furniture. The construction specifications of a breakfast room chair need to account for all of these factors.

The seat foam needs a minimum density of 35 kg/m³ so it does not sag in the middle after six months of continuous use. Cheap chairs use 20-25 kg/m³ foam, which compresses quickly and within a few months feels like sitting on a hard surface. A guest having breakfast on a chair with a sagging seat will not say so out loud, but the overall impression of the stay suffers for it.

The legs need anti-slip protectors that do not come off with frequent floor cleaning. Cheap adhesive pads come loose after a few washes, and metal or wooden legs start scratching the floor. We use screwed-in or recessed protectors that stay in place for the whole working life of the chair and are easy to replace if they wear down.

The seat upholstery needs to withstand professional cleaning products and be easy to sanitise. Faux leather is the most practical choice for breakfast rooms: it wipes clean in thirty seconds with a damp cloth and does not trap crumbs or food residue. Untreated natural fabrics are not suited to this setting: they absorb liquids, hold onto odours and need frequent professional cleaning to stay in acceptable condition.

Coordinating the Look of Your Chairs with Bedroom Furniture and Communal Areas

The chairs in a hospitality property pass through different settings: the bedroom, the breakfast room, the communal areas. Each of these settings has furniture with its own visual identity, and the chairs need to fit into that identity without creating any noticeable discontinuity.

In a hotel bedroom, the desk chair needs to match the bedroom furniture in finish and materials. A light wood chair in a room furnished in dark walnut creates a visual discontinuity that guests notice, even without putting it into words. We make desk chairs in the same 15 finishes we use for the rest of the bedroom furniture, so the chair becomes part of the overall visual system rather than standing out as an unrelated piece.

In the breakfast room and communal areas, coordination is mainly about the colour of the frames and upholstery. If the breakfast room tables are in light wood with black metal legs, the chairs need to answer that combination: light wood and black metal, or just one of the two elements on its own. A mix of different finishes in the same room creates an impression of haphazard furnishing that lowers the perceived quality of the whole property, regardless of how good the individual pieces are.
For properties that buy chairs in stages over time, we make each new order in the same finishes as the previous one, so the new arrivals blend in with the existing chairs with no noticeable difference. Consistency over time is part of the service.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Do you make chairs in the same finishes as the bedroom furniture?

Yes. Desk chairs are available in the same 15 standard finishes we use for wardrobes, desks and bedside tables. For properties with furniture from other suppliers, we take samples during the site visit and make the chairs in the closest matching finish available.

Do stackable chairs scratch each other when stacked?

No. The stackable chairs we make have plastic or rubber protectors at the points where one chair touches another when stacked. The finish stays intact even after years of daily stacking.

Do you make outdoor chairs that resist salt air for hotels on the coast?

Yes. Outdoor models for coastal properties use powder-coated aluminium frames with a specific treatment against saline corrosion, along with technical fabrics suited to marine environments. The specifications are defined during the site visit, based on how exposed the property is.

Can you order chairs in small quantities, even just 4 or 6?

Yes. There is no minimum order quantity. We also produce small batches for properties that want to replace just a few damaged chairs or add covers to the breakfast room.

How long does it take to produce and deliver the chairs?

Production takes around 3-5 weeks from order confirmation, slightly less than a full bedroom furniture package. Delivery is included worldwide.

Do you guarantee finish continuity on future orders?

Yes. We keep the finish codes for every order on file and use them to ensure consistency on future orders. If a specific finish is no longer available, we suggest the closest match and let you decide before we proceed.
