The bedside table is the most used piece of furniture in the room after the bed itself. Guests rest their phone on charge on it, their glass of water, a book, glasses, the room key. They touch it first thing in the morning and last thing before they sleep. In a hotel room, the bedside table is cleaned and reset every day by housekeeping, moved to clean under the bed, and has to cope with very different guests using it in very different ways. We make made-to-measure bedside tables for hotels in the dimensions, materials and finishes you need, coordinated with the rest of the room’s furniture. Wall-mounted, with a drawer, with an open shelf, or with a sliding system for convertible double rooms: each configuration answers a specific need. Delivery and installation included worldwide.

Types of made-to-measure bedside tables for hotels

The bedside table in convertible double rooms

In double rooms in Italian hotels, switching from twin to double configuration is one of the most frequent and most awkward jobs for staff. The bed moves, the headboard changes or adapts, but the bedside table stays exactly where it was: too heavy to move every time, too wide to fit between the two beds in twin configuration, too far from the bed in double configuration.

The most common outcome is that staff simply stop moving the bedside table at all, and the room ends up with furniture positioned in a way that’s not quite right for either twin or double configuration. Guests notice, even if they never say so outright: the room feels badly laid out, the relationships between the pieces of furniture don’t work.
The sliding system we make solves the problem at the source.

The bedside table runs on a floor track that lets you slide it sideways with one hand, in ten seconds, without lifting anything and without any risk of scratching the floor. In twin configuration, the bedside tables sit between the two beds. In double configuration, one slides outwards and sits beside the combined bed. The full transformation takes under two minutes, and the result is a room that looks designed for both configurations, because it is.

Height, depth and width: the right dimensions for a hotel bedside table

A hotel bedside table has to work with beds of different heights, with guests of different builds, and it has to be deep enough to hold whatever the guest puts on it without knocking it off at the slightest touch.

The right height for a hotel bedside table is between 45 and 55 cm, depending on the combined height of the base, slats and mattress. If the finished bed measures 60 cm off the floor, a 45 cm bedside table is too low, and whatever the guest rests on it becomes hard to reach without sitting up. If the bed measures 55 cm, a 55 cm bedside table is comfortable. The right height is set during the site survey, based on the real height of the bed that’s installed or about to be installed.

The minimum depth for a hotel bedside table is 35 cm: below that, the top is too narrow to hold a phone and a glass of water at the same time without one of them ending up on the floor. Width depends on the space available between the bed and the wall, or between the two beds: we measure this during the site survey and build the bedside table to the exact width that fills the available space without leaving dead gaps at either side.

Fixed bedside table or floating shelf: which solution for small rooms

In rooms under 16 sqm, a traditional bedside table on legs creates a cleaning problem: the space between the legs and the floor is hard to reach with a mop, dust builds up, and it needs manual attention from staff that slows down turning the room around. In properties with high turnover and limited staff, this translates into rooms that get cleaned less thoroughly in exactly the corners that are hardest to see.

A wall-mounted shelf-style bedside table solves the problem by doing away with legs: the floor underneath is completely clear and can be cleaned in seconds with a normal mop. The wall fixing is reinforced to take the weight of whatever a guest rests on it, including the fact that some guests lean on the bedside table to push themselves up out of bed, a load that a standard bedside table on legs handles better than a poorly fixed shelf.

A second advantage of the shelf-style bedside table in small rooms is how much bigger the space feels: without legs, the floor looks clearer and the room feels larger. In the photos a property posts on Booking, this effect is even more pronounced, because photography exaggerates the depth of clear floor space. For many properties, it’s a noticeable improvement in photos without changing anything about the room’s actual floor plan.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Do you make bedside tables to the exact dimensions of the space available between the bed and the wall?

Yes. Every bedside table is made to the measurements taken during the site survey. If the space between the bed and the wall is 42 cm, the bedside table is 41 cm wide.

Does the sliding system for twin rooms work on any type of flooring?

It works on ceramic, porcelain stoneware, parquet and laminate flooring. For irregular stone floors or carpet, we assess the most suitable track solution for the specific surface during the site survey.

Can an electrical socket and USB port be integrated into any bedside table model?

Yes. The socket compartment can be built into every model, either on the top or on the side of the bedside table. Its position depends on the room’s existing electrical layout, which we check during the site survey.

Do bedside table drawers stick in humid weather?

No. We use full-extension metal runners with soft-close dampers, which aren’t affected by the humidity swings typical of hotel rooms. Solid wood drawers without metal runners jam in humid conditions, which is exactly why we don’t use them.

How long does it take to produce and deliver bedside tables?

Production takes around 4-6 weeks from order confirmation, the same as for a complete room fit-out. Delivery and installation are included worldwide.

Do you make bedside tables coordinated with furniture from other suppliers?

Yes. If you provide a sample of the existing finish or the colour code of the furniture to match, we make the bedside table in the closest compatible finish from our 15 standard options, or to a dedicated sample.
